The Olympic Games
The first Olympic Games were originated in 776 BC in Olympia, Greece. The International Olympic Committee was created in 1894 by the French aristocrat Pierre Fredy, Baron de Couberth. The approaching Olympic Games in Beijing, China, will include 302 events in 28 sports. In the above picture a 23-year-old Tibetan woman, a mountain climber, carried the Olympic flame atop the peak of Mount Everest, on Thursday, May 8.

Los primeros Juegos Olímpicos se originaron en el 776 A.C. en Olimpia, Grecia. El Comité Olímpico Internacional fue creado en 1894 por el aristócrata francés Pierre Fredy, Barón de Couberth. En los proximos Juegos Olímpicos en Pekín, China, se incluyen 302 eventos en 28 deportes. En la ilustración superior aparece una mujer tibetana de 23 anos de edad, escaladora de montaña, y quien llevó la Llama Olímpica a la cima del Monte Everest, el jueves, 8 de mayo.

Corporate Espionage
In my post dated April 28, titled "Internet and the Fourth Amendment," I spoke about the surveillance or spying by the Internet Service Providers on some of their customers.
In a recent article of The New York Times the subject is about corporate espionage. I remember that years ago there were frictions between European corporations and their American counterparts due to espionage between them. But that was their problem, that didn't concern me.
Now I learn that Burger King Corporation is engaged in espionage in Florida of the Student/Farmworker Alliance which is a group of young people that is just trying legally to improve the lives of migrants in this state.
Corporate spying of ordinary Americans is a fact in this country. Wal-Mart, ExxonMobil are also in surveillance activities. I think that the U.S. Congress should take a look at this problem.
Since I am an occasional customer of Burger King I will always look under the table to be sure that there is nobody there trying to spy on me.

Espionaje Corporativo.
En mi post de fecha 28 de abril, titulado "Internet y la Cuarta Enmienda," he hablado acerca de la vigilancia o el espionaje de los proveedores de servicios de Internet (ISP) a algunos de sus clientes. En un reciente artículo del The New York Times el tema es acerca del espionaje corporativo. Recuerdo que hace varios años hubo fricciones entre las empresas europeas y sus homólogas norteamericanas debido al espionaje que habia entre ellos. Pero eso era un problema entre ellos, que no me atania. Sin embargo ahora me entero de que Burger King Corporation se dedica al espionaje en la Florida de "La Alianza de Estudiantes /Trabajadores Agricolas" que es un grupo de jóvenes que está tratando legalmente de mejorar la vida de los inmigrantes en este estado. El espionaje corporativo de los estadounidenses ordinarios es un hecho veridico en este país. Wal-Mart, ExxonMobil también se encuentran en estas actividades de vigilancia. Creo que el Congreso de los EE.UU. debería echarle una ojeada a este problema. Ya que que soy un cliente casual de Burger King voy a mirar siempre debajo de la mesa para estar seguro de que no hay nadie allí tratando de espiarme.
